Kangnung - Sachon charts
Red Dog heeft ook niet echt stil gezeten gedurende de vakantie periode en 2 nieuwe charts geproduceerd.
Een bijzondere in deze is de approach van Sachon. Liggend tussen de bergen is dit een bijzondere approach. Moeilijk maar leuk.
Red Dog hierover:
Now that's interesting. Kangnung is a 08/26 and surrounded by terrain west and south of the airport. So if approach to RWY 26 is pretty easy with the ILS, it's not safe for RWY 08. So the procedure here calls for a circle to land.
Basically, it means you have to approach as if you were landing on rwy26, but you're not
You follow the ILS until the MDA (Minimum Descent altitude) and stay at that altitude until you have the runway in sight (don't you dare go lower, I'll be on the runway and taking down serial numbers.  Once you have the rwy in visual, you can start the pattern around the airport to land on the opposite rwy. You have two ways to do it: if you spot the rwy visually in time to enter a downwind leg, do so. If not, you have to overfly the runway and perform a full double pattern as described in the chart............
